What is peripheral neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy is loss of sensation due to the damage to the peripheral nerves. Peripheral nerves are nerves that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.
What causes peripheral neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy can have many different causes but the most come cause is diabetes. Some of the other causes of peripheral neuropathy are:
- metabolic problems
- traumatic injuries
- toxins
- chemotherapy
- drugs
- alcohol
- vitamin deficiency
